While temporarily living in China, I’ve had the pleasure of visiting many small cities around the country. My latest stop was Sanya, China for an extended holiday weekend. My husband and I stayed at the Sanya Marriott Dadonghai, and it was perfect.
First and foremost, the hotel is beautiful. Excellent location for access to the beach and to many restaurants along the boardwalk and pier. The views of the hotel are simply breathtaking during the day and at night. If you can, request a corner room with an outside lounger. It’s perfect to lounging outside during the day, while enjoying the beach views, and lounging outside at night, while watching the sunset and the city light up.
Where to Eat…
When it comes to food, there are a variety of options at the Sanya Marriott Dadhonghai. The free breakfast buffet is excellent… It has everything from Asian Cuisine to Western Cuisine, and a little bit of everything in between. Be warned, however, that at certain times it’s very crowded and you’ll find yourself waiting in a 20-minute omelet line!
We also ate at their yogurt shop, twice, and I highly recommend it (it was buy 1 get one ½ off). Their café is also highly recommended, as we enjoyed some of their fresh-baked pastries. Note, however, that some of those same pastries can be found for free on the breakfast buffet. (smart tip!) We also ordered room service, which I felt was reasonably priced. And we visited the Man Ho restaurant for lunch…it was excellent! The dumplings were super flavorful and tasty!
What to Do…
With the hotel located right on the beach, there are many outdoor activities just steps from your hotel room. Jetskies, parasailing, snorkeling and scuba diving…just about any water sport you can think of is at your convenience. And if you want to get away from the beach, the hotel offers a complementary shuttle to take you to the Sanya city center. If you would rather just stay in and hang out around the hotel, you can definitely spend hours lounging by their outdoor pool or you can enjoy their full-scale game room, complete with arcade games and a singing booth. The hotel also offers pool tables, foosball tables, and a children’s play room. In addition to enjoying the hotel activities, we also enjoyed a performance of Cirque Du Soliel (look for that review in an upcoming post!). So no matter what you’re game for, there is always something to do while staying at the Sanya Marriott Dadonghai!
In all, our holiday in Sanya was excellent, and we look forward to returning in the near future.
P.S. Check out my review of Sanya Marriott Dadonghai on Tripadvisor, as I give a shout out the Guest Services Manager, Crystal, and Executive Lounge Host, Sanmani!
